From then on, I knew just how cool, driving, emotional, and inspirational heavy music could be.

So, of course, it was only a matter of time before I made my list of their greatest songs, the ultimate Nirvana playlist, if you will. Perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy their biggest and best tracks. As always, I’ve embedded YouTube and Spotify players down below, so you can listen to all the songs right here.

What Is Nirvana’s Best Song?

Another hot topic among the band’s fans. Not surprising though, with Nirvana’s catalog, there are multiple songs that have the equal shot for the title of the greatest. It basically comes down to what mood you’re currently in. If you’re feeling mellow and calm you might fancy tracks like Something in The Way, Dumb and Come As You Are. And when you want to enjoy heavier, charged and more intense Nirvana, you’ll probably prefer songs like Smells Like Teen Spirit, Lithium, Heart-Shaped Box. These are all longtime fan-favorite masterpieces.

Yet, in the end their most popular hit is “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. And for a good reason – it has all the Nirvana’s signature sound elements. It has remarkable vibe and drive, it features both Kurt’s iconic clean and scream vocals, it has amazing melody, exceptional lyrics.

Sometimes people tend to downplay the band’s most popular composition, just to go against the trend. But in case of “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, the song is simply legendary, it has the power to be considered the band’s best.
