Danzig Best 10 Songs – Ranked & Playlist

Danzig is one of those artists that fans either know and love — or they’ve never even heard of. Kinda a paradox. The band has released some of the most iconic metal hits out there, yet many don’t even know the name. I hope this playlist and chart help fix that.

Whether you’re just discovering Danzig or want to re-live their best hits — you’re in the right place 🎧

Danzig Best 10 Songs Ranked

Danzig Best 10 Songs Ranked

10. Danzig – Sistinas

At number ten comes “Sistinas” – one of the most chill and atypical Danzig songs. It has very recognizable Elvis vibes, which isn’t surprising, given that Glenn Danzig is a big fan. But on top of the smooth vocals, he adds a much darker, almost sinister tone. No wonder it’s so beloved by fans. Without a doubt, a well-deserved spot on the Best 10 Songs Ranked list.

9. Danzig – Am I Demon

“Am I Demon” from Danzig’s debut album features one of his rawest and most captivating vocal performances. It also fits his image perfectly – the lyrics are just pure fun. It’s a clear banger, the kind that makes you wanna go full speed on the highway with the windows down and the wind furiously blasting at you. And if you don’t have a car, well, you can always crank the volume up and enjoy this hit wherever you are.

8. Danzig – Long Way Back From Hell

“Long Way Back From Hell” comfortably sits at number 8. This track brings those prominent blues vibes that their second record is known for, adding to the melodic side of the composition. It’s a high-energy song with equally strong vocals. The speed and raw power hit you right away, impossible not not feel alive when you have it on! Easily one of the best opening tracks on any metal album.

7. Danzig – Anything

One of my favorite Danzig songs, “Anything” is a criminally underrated track. It starts off as a calm ballad but then turns into a dark, intense trip. The heavy guitar is fabulous, the tempo switches are perfectly timed, the vocals are amazing, and the solos are incredible. This one definitely earns its spot in the middle of the Top 10 chart.

6. Danzig – Killer Wolf

Number six goes to “Killer Wolf” from the impressive Danzig II: Lucifuge. Early Danzig was truly a force of genre. It’s a fresh concoction of heavy metal creatively mixed with blues rock elements. The bluesy melody grabs you right away and doesn’t let go until the very end. The lyrics paint a vivid picture, amplified by the instrumentation. It’s one of those classic tracks parents used to disapprove of their teenage kids blasting at full volume back in the day.

5. Danzig – End Of Time

They say Glenn Danzig has a voice resembling that of Jim Morrison from the legendary The Doors… and they’re not wrong. End of Time, from the band’s debut 1988 album, shows exactly why — the vocals carry some serious Morrison vibes, in the best possible way. Being a big fan of The Doors myself, I was truly taken away by the vocals on this one the first time I heard it. The opening even reminds me of People Are Strange. But it quickly transforms into a standalone hit, and you know for sure that it’s Danzig you’re listening to.

4. Danzig – Blood And Tears

“Blood And Tears” is an excellent reminder why Danzig was never a one-hit wonder. Yet another sensational track that combines the softness of a ballad, great vocals, and a sweet guitar solo to make it exciting from the first second to the last. This one comes really close to the top three of the Top 10 Danzig Songs. I’ve seen plenty of longtime fans call it one of the group’s most memorable hits.

3. Danzig – Devil’s Plaything

The Top 3 podium opens with “Devil’s Plaything” – the masterpiece from the second studio album, Danzig II: Lucifuge (1990). Honestly, this song has a strong case for placing even higher on the Danzig Best 10 Songs chart. Many fans consider it one of the band’s best, and rightfully so. The track has no weak spots whatsoever.

2. Danzig – Mother

Mother is Danzig’s most popular hit. And just because it is, some try-hard fans refuse to acknowledge how great this song really is – or rank it high among the band’s greatest. But this song is popular for a reason. The melody, the vocals, the structure — “Mother” is a perfect blend of all those elements. And it has insane replay value too. It definitely earned its place on my Top 50 Best Rock Songs of All Time list.

1. Danzig – How the Gods Kill

And the number one spot goes to “How the Gods Kill” from the third studio album, Danzig III: How the Gods Kill (1992). Just like “Mother”, it’s an exceptional showcase of Danzig’s strongest sides. The track starts with a mellow intro and beautiful guitar, followed by an explosion of Glenn’s signature vocals and a shift into heavy sound. The melody is supreme, and the lyrics are just perfect. The song closes by returning to the same softness as the opening, coming full circle. It manages to be dark and artistically gorgeous throughout.
