What’s Your Favorite Ensiferum Song?

Me personally, I prefer early Ensiferum – their first couple of albums sound more epic and authentic to my taste. Not that I don’t like the group’s recent releases, but there’s something about Ensiferum (2001) and Iron (2004) that makes these albums super special. What about you?

As for a favorite song, it’s really hard to pick just one. If I’m in the mood for a faster track with a clear melody, I’d go with “Lai Lai Hei.” And if I want something calmer, I’d choose “Lost in Despair.”

Speaking of epic music – if you love J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of The Rings, and enjoy power metal, I hope you’ve heard of Blind Guardian. If you haven’t already – you need to check ’em out. I can’t recommend this band enough, they’re amazing!

About Ensiferum

Ensiferum was founded in 1995 in Helsinki, Finland. Guitarist Markus Toivonen put the band together, and he is the only original member in the current lineup. From the beginning, they started blending melodic death metal with folk vibes, creating that signature epic sound fans love them for. You won’t find more powerful riffs, catchy melodies, and epicly heroic, battle-ready energy than in their songs.

About Ensiferum

Unfortunately, Jari Mäenpää (original vocalist) left in 2004 after they released their second album Iron. But Ensiferum kept going with a few lineup changes here and there, always putting out new music. So far, they’ve released nine studio albums.

Here’s a quick list of all their studio records with release years:

  1. Ensiferum (2001)
  2. Iron (2004)
  3. Victory Songs (2007)
  4. From Afar (2009)
  5. Unsung Heroes (2012)
  6. One Man Army (2015)
  7. Two Paths (2017)
  8. Thalassic (2020)
  9. Winter Storm (2024)
